GM was launching Chevy's smallest, fuel-efficient supermini, the Aveo, in Canada. They wanted to target a young audience, a group of drivers (aged 16-28yrs) who would care about the cost savings of the car and the fuel efficiency as well.
A microsite that epitomizes the Aveo tagline "Have a Little Fun". That is just what we did when we created this site. We created a site that was a playful, a Herbie-esque characature take on the Aveo. The site highlights the Aveo's main features through a series of playful games and fun screens & the odd useful informational call-out. On one screen the user has to pop through bubble wrap to see the tips on the cars safety features, or on another, the user has to play tag with the Aveo car, and another the car is featured in a skate park, etc. We were able to kept costs down in one area by creating simple white environments using a pre- 3D rendered effect, called ambient occlusion (this is a quick previewing state for rendering files usually).
